Apple Plans to Launch Flip-Style Phone
So guys, we’ve recently had some big news in that Apple are definitely looking to make a flip-style phone and it’s going to be coming out really really soon. Let me tell you all the details about this today and also I’ll give you a summary of everything we know about the possibility of an iPhone 17 Flip.
Leak from Ross Young
First of all, let’s talk about this leak that we’ve had right in, and you can see it right here. It’s from Ross Young. Now, if you know anything about Ross Young, he’s been quite a good reliable leaker, especially in kind of screen technology. Whenever there’s a screen involved with a Mac, iPad, or iPhone, he’s normally quite good and reliable with his leaks.
As you can see right here, you can see he’s got a statement that Apple are looking to change and revolutionize the flip smartphones out there, but the thing is, though, it looks like we’re going to have to wait until 2026 to get this.
Apple’s Entry into the Market
This is amazing news to hear that Apple are finally going into this market because, obviously, other sorts of flip phones have existed for ages. We’ve also had the likes of different kinds of foldable phones too, such as the Pixel Fold, Samsung Galaxy Fold phones, and OnePlus has brought out its own kind of fold. Many other big Android manufacturers have brought out foldable devices, and Apple has been one of the key players who hasn’t created any kind of foldable or flip device yet.
Flip or Foldable Design
What we’ve actually heard in lots of leaks and rumors in the past about a possible flip or fold phone is that Apple is likely going to make more of a flip-style phone. I mean something like the Motorola Razr or Samsung Galaxy Flip phones. The great thing about Apple making a design like this is that it means it’ll be very easy to migrate the current version of iOS over to a flip-style phone. The screen interface will be very similar to what we have right now, making it easy to transition.
Potential Release and Design
It is great for Apple to finally enter this market because we’ve had loads of leaks in the past. I’ve even spoken about these in previous videos. You can see some of them highlighted just here next to me. For example, there are patents and designs that have surfaced too. While patents don’t always mean the design will come to fruition, when you get a leak from someone like Ross Young, it seems more obvious that Apple might be finally launching a flip phone, even if they are a little late to the party.
Name and Model Speculation
One thing I would say is that if this device is coming out in 2026, it’s probably going to be called something like the iPhone 18 Flip, or it could be simply called the iPhone Flip without a number, starting a new series, much like the Apple Watch Ultra did.
iPhone 17 Redesign and Other Leaks
In 2025, Apple is expected to release a different type of phone, potentially the iPhone Air or iPhone Slim. Additionally, iPhone 17 Pro Models might also get a full redesign. This could pave the way for the flip phone in 2026, aligning with the calls for more innovation in Apple’s designs.

iPhone 17 Flip Release Date and Price Speculation
Now, moving on, we have the leak that 2026 is the target year for this new flip iPhone. When exactly will it be released, and what about the price?
Expected Release Date
If it’s going to be a new iPhone, I think it’s going to come out with the iPhone 17 flip 18s in 2026. Normally, Apple holds their events in September, to announce their new products. You can expect to get your hands on the new flip phone around 7 to 10 days later or sometimes even two weeks later.
Price Prediction
For pricing, we can look to devices like the Motorola Razr and Samsung’s flip phones. Currently, a Samsung flip phone costs around $1,000. So, Apple will likely price their flip phone in a similar range, probably slightly higher than the regular iPhone 16 which costs about $700. However, don’t expect the flip phone to be a Pro model. It will probably be a standard model with two cameras and a flip design, with the possible addition of a screen on the rear.
